Influence of Track Parameters on Rail Frequency Response Function Based on Analytical Solution

Varying degree rail corrugation phenomenon appears in Beijing subway lines. The resonance of vehicle and track is considered to be the major reason of the rail corrugation phenomenon , so it has a very important significance to research the vibration characteristics of track structure in the subway. Based on the short sleeper solid track bed widely used in the subway ,the track structure is considered as a periodic infinite structure and the transfer matrix method is used to derivate the vertical dynamic response of rail at the pulse point under the effect of vertical unit pulse (Dirac load) in the frequency domain ,which is also called frequency response function. With the programming in MATLAB software, the following track parameters influence on rail frequency response function is researched : sleeper spacing, fastener stiffness, stiffness under sleeper and short sleeper mass. The following conclusions are obtained : within the calculation range (0~1200Hz) ,there exist three peaks on the rail frequency response function ;the first peak is mainly affected by fastener stiffness and stiffness under sleeper , while sleeper spacing and short sleeper mass have little influence on it;the second peak is mainly affected by short sleeper mass ,fasteners stiffness and stiffness under sleeper,while sleeper spacing nearly has no effect on it ;the third peak is mainly determined by the sleeper spacing,and fastener stiffness only has a certain influence on the magnitude of the peak , while the other track parameters have no effect both on the location and magnitude of the peak. These conclusions can be used to provide a theoretical basis to avoid the rail corrugation phenome -non in the new line design and govern the rail corrugation phenomenon in old lines.
