E-Gov 2012: Towards a Real E-democracy?
With a view to complying with the European Digital Agenda, the Italian government is planning to invest heavily to provide higher levels of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) within the Public Sector. By investigating relevant data, the aim of this paper is to analyze the latest outcomes and developments, primarily considering initiatives and legislative measures at a national level. In this connection, the survey will also take account of the results of a cross examination of statistics on home broadband access and computer literacy, with a view to addressing the question as to whether or not the project E-Gov Italia 2012 is effectively contributing to the development of E-democracy.
