Chinese Long-term Dynamic Minimum Wage Adjustment Mechanism—A Case of Shanghai

In theory level, opposition is based on western economics and lack the analysis of Chinese economy condition, their key point is to reduce workers salary and welfare to lower the cost and the bankruptcy risk. Some economists insist that salary improvement can cut down the job chance when they analyze the relationship of the salary improvement and job recruitment expansion without considering the dynamic change of overall demand and supply. Supporters argument lacks significant economic theory. In the real problem analysis, most papers focus on the short term effect and their quoted data is limited to certain economic cycle, so these papers may conclude even opposite conclusion. There are only a few papers that conduct research on the Shanghai minimum salary adjustment mechanism which mostly lack the long term dynamic research on different economic cycle. This paper which is based on the theory of economic cycle and salary standard, guided by the Marxist salary theory and referred to the western salary theory, analyses the concept and features of minimum salary standard and the government policy to it.
