Study on Spatial Economy Effects of the Intercity Railway Network—Inter-city Rail of Yangtze River Delta
All regions along these lines are connected as a unity by inter-city rail, which reduces the overall transportation cost for enterprises and residents, and makes the economic contact closer, as well as makes economic actions among regions more convenient to spread from one region to another. This paper shows that the opening of inter-city rail has significant room for economic effects, including spatial aggregation effect, spatial diffusion effect, spatial positive spillover effect and space group effect. The opening of the Yangtze River Delta intercity rail will help further economic development in the Yangtze River Delta to create a new platform to enhance the gathering and spread effect throughout the Yangtze River Delta, and to form a coordinated development of urban industrial clusters and corresponding cluster and, ultimately, integration of regional economic development.
