Decentralisation and Economic Growth

Applying regression analyses, some limited studies have shown that, there is a robust significant impact of decentralization on economic growth; but on the other hand, a negative insignificant role being played among some studies. They found fiscal decentralization might be detrimental to economic growth. The main concerning on this issue is how to demonstrate accurate indicators for the degree of fiscal decentralization. Variable different and various methodologies employed could draw a completely different conclusion on the relationship between decentralization and economic growth. Correspondingly, policy recommendation can be totally different. In general, with lack of consistent knowledge and ubiquitous justification, there is no unambiguous, automatic, satisfactory relationship between decentralization and economic growth. Nevertheless, due to difficult data collecting and complex country setting, there is still no clear picture that how fiscal decentralization contribute to economic growth with a positive robust effect.
