A Comparative Study on the Education Strategy of USA and China for Supporting Innovation

National competition in the 21st Century is innovation-based competition, the essential nature of which is talent-oriented. In 2011, Obama government has published a document named A Strategy for American Innovation Securing Our Economic Growth and Prosperity, which emphasizes the function of education as the base supporting national innovation strategy. Chinas 12th Five-year Plan requires that the Strategy of Rejuvenating China through Science, Education and Talents should be implemented to drive economic development with innovation. This article aims to compare the education strategy of U.S.A and China in supporting innovation, analyze the reasons that the differences exist from the aspects of economic development level and historical background, sum up the American experiences in developing education to support national innovation, and propose suggestions for making and implementing the educational development strategy to support constructing innovative state.
