Study on the Complementary Medical Insurance System in China—From the Perspective of Social Policy
As is known to all, medical insurance system is an important part of the social security system. Basic medical insurance, complementary medical insurance and social medical aid system are the three pillars of health insurance. Due to the uncertainty of disease and peoples awareness of risk, the demand for medical insurance is rising gradually. Supplementary medical insurance is relative to the basic medical insurance, it is established to be in accordance with the need of special groups, so it is a kind of compensatory form. Clearly, our complementary medical insurance is not perfect and mature, and it will be improved. Establishing a multi-level medical insurance system can perfect our health care system. Moreover, complementary medical insurance can carter to the demand for welfare , of health. This paper analyzes the necessity of supplementary medical insurance system construction in China in detail, and introduces the operation model and patterns of complementary medical insurance from the perspective of social policies on the comprehensive discussion.
