Thinking on Network Group Polarization in China
Group polarization is a social phenomenon. When people with similar interest gather to form a group, the group is likely to develop drastic and adventurous behavior. In a normal society, any extreme view or behavior is not encouraged and kept under control. The rapid growth of network technology makes the role of online public opinions more and more prominent, while the substantial phenomenongroup polarization by Internet users, has become focus of public attention. It originates on the Internet but has the potential to spread to the real life and lead to aggressive behaviors, thus affecting social stability and national peace. However, at present the attention from scholars and governments in China is not enough. Therefore, it is a necessary and urgent task to tackle the matter and make deeper research into it. This article identifies its causes and put forward relevant suggestions based on a detailed analysis of the problem.
