Gender Imbalance in Rural Water-related-affairs Management and Suggestions in China

Chinese rural area is undergoing a rapid economic development, and a large quantity of rural laborers especially the male rural laborers have been moving to the cities and costal area. The rural social public affair management including the rural water-related-affairs management is undergoing the revolutionary reform. But due to the bond of tradition, the lack of institutional guarantee and the new inequality led by the social division, the rural women have not played their due role in water-related-affairs management. The rural women have been equipped with some favorable conditions to participate the water-related-affairs management. They have been the leading force in agriculture production; their quality has been improved and Dublin Principles will potentially provide them some institutional support. Suggestions: abolishment of male chauvinism; more government favorable policies and special financial funds concerned; base on training on water-related-affairs management, more cultural, scientific and technological training for rural women.
