The Politicization of Public Administration-An Obstacle in the Romanian Civil Service Reform
The recent developments at economic, social, and political level have only shown the obvious need of reform which is reflected in all Romanian areas, including in the public administration sector. This is because the public administration as part of the state is submitted to a transformation process as a result of the influences exerted by various factors such as: the politicization, European integration, decentralization, each of these factors has effects at local and national level. The politicization of public administration prevents the reform process of civil service, having negative repercussions on public administration activity, considering that through the civil servants there are represented and managed the interests of local, regional and national communities. Removing politics from the administration will allow officials to perform their job duties in good faith and it will increase their orientation towards the needs of citizens, as the public administration has to serve the general interest and not the interests of different parties that have the power at a certain time. Even if there is a link between politics and administration, it must be strictly limited to a certain level and not covering the whole body of civil servants.
