The Regulation of Chinas Nuclear Industry: An Analysis Based on Environmental Federalism

With the increasing demands of electricity, energysaving and reducing emission to protect environment, the nuclear industry has been developed rapidly in China as a kind of sustainable and clean energy. However, Chinas nuclear regulatory mechanism remains a lot of problems. This is hardly proportionate to the development of nuclear industry. This paper analyzes the situation of Chinas nuclear industry development first of all. Then we make a detailed regulatory analysis of Chinas nuclear industry from the view of environmental federalism. We mainly focus on the roles of different levels of government play in environmental management and explore from the aspect of regulatory institutions, regulatory laws and so on. Finally, the conclusions are summarized and several policy recommendations to promote the healthy and orderly development of Chinas nuclear industry are made.
