A Comparative Study of Private Higher Education in China and the USA during the Popularization Process
The paper compares and analyses different aspects of Chinese and American higher education concerning gross enrollment rates, the total number of students in schools, and the numbers of students enrolled in various educational systems and the funding for private schools. Thus comes to the conclusions that the Chinese privately-owned higher education system should break the limit of only being vocational, and offer diversified educational services, meanwhile promote the temperate development of profitable higher education. The developing zones for private higher education should be postgraduate courses, general undergraduate courses and higher vocational training (profitable higher educations included). The government has the obligation to clarify and to expand the financial aids towards private higher education. The private institutions should scale-up on a quality-guaranteed basis.
