An Analysis on the Functions of Water Resources in Building Livable City—A Case Study of Chongqing City

As society and economy marches inexorably towards globalization, livability is important for cities across all regions when they compete with each other to attract enterprises, investment and employment. Absolutely, the government of Chongqing, the youngest municipality under the authorities of the Central Government, has realized the importance of livability, for they have implemented a livable Chongqing campaign. A livable city should offer a high quality of life and support the health and wellbeing of people who live and work in them. And we can see that water will play an increasingly vital role in achieving a livable Chongqing. This paper is a case study of Chongqing; it focuses on the role of water resource played in the process of shaping livable Chongqing, analyzes the problems that we confronted when we use water resource, and then puts forward some scientific and rational suggestions for solving the existing problems. These suggestions will provide some new ideas and references for those cities which are abundant in water resources on their roads to Livable City.
