CSR Strategies of Chinas Listed Tourism Enterprises

This paper aims to ascertain the CSR strategies of the 32 listed tourism enterprises in China. Using content analysis method to identify and describe CSR initiatives from web sites, annual reports and corporate social responsibility reports, the findings reveal that among Chinas listed tourism enterprises CSR strategies, 20 travel companies are less of reporting of socially responsible behavior, while 8 hotels focus upon four sets of CSR issues relating to the environment, the workplace, the marketplace, the charity but less of the community, the supplier, 4 restaurant groups emphasize green food and sustainable development. Most of the listed tourism enterprises expose CSR by their vision, mission statement, annual reports and CSR reports, but most are only literature expression, data will be better and specific. This is one of the research papers looking at CSR strategies in the hospitality industry. It provides some practical implications about CSR strategies not only for practitioners, hospitality organizations, but also should get the support from the department of government administration.
