A Study on the Web-GIS-Based Self-Helped Tourism Information System—With a Particular Reference to Chengde City
Web-GIS, as a product of the integration of Web and GIS technologies, is regarded as a new technology which is supposed to make GIS functions perfect and diversified by the use of Internet. The present article at first clarifies the concept, characteristics, essential principle and implementation method of Web-GIS, and then a detailed discussion about the basic thinking and concrete method of Web-GIS-based tourism information system has been made, which principally concerns itself with the database design, information transfer, information inquiry, electronic mapping inquiry by means of a case study of Chengde city.
