A Study on Opportunity Formation in New Strategic Industries
This paper examines how opportunity is formed, how entrepreneurs grasp opportunities in front of emerging strategic new industries to achieve sustained competitive advantage. Based on the debate between the objective entity and subjective construction of opportunity, this paper analyzes the essence of opportunity, regarding it as an interactive process between objective entity and subjective construction, pointing out the five factors which impacts the formation and seizing of opportunity. A case of German wind energy industry development illustrates the mechanism of opportunity formation, providing more references for the identification and creation of opportunities in strategic new industries.
