Quality of Work Life (QWL) for Knowledge Workers: The Construct, Dimensionality and Measurement
This paper examines the measurement of the Quality of Work Life (QWL) among knowledge workers in China. There are 11 factors of QWL (job autonomy, job significance, self-actualization, feedback, opportunity, team work, management style, respect for people, corporate image, social status, physical and mental health), which can be divided into task, organizational environment and social and psychological dimensions based on empirical analysis. Numerous exploratory and confirmatory factors analyses are also conducted to develop a reliable scale of QWL. Practical and policy implications of the findings will be discussed.
