The Asymmetric Long-Run Relationship Between Economic Development and Tourism Expansion
This study employs the momentum threshold vector error-correction model to investigate the asymmetric cointegration, Granger causal relationships between GDP and tourist arrival from 1974 to 2010. The empirical results show that an asymmetric long-run adjustment exists between GDP and tourist arrival. Furthermore, the asymmetric causality relationship show that GDP play a dominant role, indicating the finding could prove valuable to government.
