Behavior Safety and Its Progress in China
In China, behavior safety has been mentioned from time to time, but seldom applied systematically in industry. This situation may be caused by its short history of development in China and inadequate/incorrect understanding of the contents and role of behavior safety. According to modern accident-causation theory proposed by the authors, the direct and indirect causes for accidents are ascribed to peoples unsafe acts and behavior/habits respectively, the author presented the different usage/understanding of behavior safety in China and western countries. Basically, in China, behavior safety is often used to solve the direct causes of accidents, i.e. the unsafe act, but in the west, it is used to solve the indirect causes(unsafe behavior/habit) and root cause(management system) for the accidents. In one side, Chinese professionals need to change their view of point, and in the other, it is can be seen that the consulting market for behavior safety in China is very promising.
