An Empirical Study on Factors Influencing Risk Preferences of Chinese Migrant Workers in Construction Industry
Individual risk preference is an important factor for migrant workers in their risk decision-making. Depending on the data gathered from 257 migrant workers through questionnaire in construction industry in Zhenjiang, this paper discusses the influencing factors for risk preferences of migrant workers by using multiple linear regression analysis. The results have shown that income, years of education, the number of the elderly and children they need support, as well as marital status have significant effect on migrant workers risk preferences. Lengths of service and daily working hours have little effect on their risk preferences. In order to improve the safety management level of migrant workers, government should strengthen safety education and help to solve the problems caused by empty-nest elderly and left-behind children in rural areas.
