Shipman Behavior Based on Safety Psychological Model and Reinforcement Theory

Ship accidents due to human factors have been the main component of maritime accidents. Relatively little previous research has focus on the principle by which safety culture, methods and structure of organization affect safety behavior of shipmen. The paper studies the effects of enterprise culture on safety culture as well as on safety performance. A model is introduced to analyze the enterprise climate and work psychological factors influencing the safety effects of human performance. Reinforcement theory is adopted to analyze the modification methods of the shipman behavior. Advices based on reinforcement theory are given to improve the enterprise safety culture so as to meliorate shipman behavior.
