Empirical Study on Safe Exit Route Design
Disastrous events, such as fire, occasionally occurring in buildings, will lead to heavy property loss and casualties. Therefore, the design of safe exit routes within buildings appears to be essential. At present, the exit routes of many buildings are not reasonable and scientific, causing poor applicability. The domestic and foreign researches on exit routes of buildings are either unfeasible or cost too much to realize. In this paper, the office of a university in Beijing will be taken as demonstrative research object, and feasible exit routes will be designed through theoretical analysis, software simulation, on-site evacuation test and statistical method. The purpose is to assure people of timely, rapid and safe evacuation from the fire scene to safe place in case of fire, and to make the exit routes scientific and effective through repeated evacuation rehearsals that are used to continuously adjust evacuation strategy.
