Increasing of Ethanol Production Yield as a Solvent for Producing of any Kind of Propellant by Clarification of Cane Molasses

In this study different approaches to the clarification of cane juice used in the bioethanol production process was investigated. The sulfuric acid process was used to treat cane molasses before the fermentation. Under optimum conditions, namely pH=2.5, 30 minute heating time and two times heating and centrifugation, the amount of sludge removed from raw cane molasses was 12.14 g dry sludge/kg molasses. Comparison of the growth of yeast in raw and clarified cane molasses showed the detrimental effect of the clarification process on yeast growth, probably as a result of the removal of nutrients and/or the addition of inhibitors to the growth media. Clarification of the ethanolic fermentation broth instead of raw cane molasses was also carried out. Results showed that clarification of the ethanolic broth results in higher amount of sludge removal compared to the clarification of raw cane molasses. Acidification of the ethanolic broth prior to centrifugation resulted in a slightly higher removal of sludge.
