Synthesis and Characteristic on Primary-hydroxyl Terminated GAP
In order to improve mechanical properties of glycidyl azide polymer (GAP), primary-hydroxyl terminated GAP was synthesized utilizing the reaction between hydroxyls and isocyanates. FTIR analysis showed that secondary-hydroxyl transformation is entired. Maximum elongation measurement indicated that mechanical properties of cured primary-hydroxyl terminated GAP film excel in that of cured secondary-hydroxyl terminated GAP system. Swelling rate of primary-hydroxyl system is lower than that of secondary-hydroxyl system in THF solution. It was resultant that higher activity of primary-hydroxyl optimizes the network structure of GAP binder system and increased the strain and stress, compared with secondary-hydroxyl terminated GAP system.
