Synthesis and Characterization of Energetic Ethylene-Bridged Bis(nitroiminotetrazolate) Salts
The synthesis of high energy density materials with ethylene bis(nitroiminotetrazolate) as the anions is reported. The energetic salts were readily synthesized by reacting 1,2-bis(5-nitro-iminotetrazol-1-yl)ethane with ammonium hydroxide, hydrazine hydrate, guanidine nitrate, and dihydrazinotetrazine in water. Bis(5-aminotetrazolium) ethylene bis(5-nitroiminotetrazolate) salt was obtained by reacting bis(ammonium) ethylene bis(5-nitroiminotetrazolate) with 5-aminotetrazolium nitrate in water. All salts were fully characterized by IR, and 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy as well as elemental analyses. In addition, the structural of 1,2-bis(5-nitroimino-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)-ethane is confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses.
