Preparation and Combustion Performance of High Progressivity Single-Base Oblate Spherical Powder with Large Web Thickness

This paper deals with the forming and deterred technique of high progressivity single-base oblate spherical powder with large web thickness. The manufacture process composed of porous-making, sphere-shaping, shell forming and subsequent deterrent of outer surface of single-base oblate spherical powder. The combustion characteristics of prepared single-base oblate spherical powder were studied by closed bomb tests. Influence of two kinds of the deterrents, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), and their contents, the technique parameters related to the shell-core porous structure of oblate spherical powder on the burning progressivity are investigated. Results show that the high progressivity single-base oblate spherical powder can be manufactured by the techniques both at laboratory and pilot plant scale.
