Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Thermal Decomposition and Sensitivity Properties of (IMA)(TNM) and (Pyr)(TNM)
Two new energetic salts trinitromethane imiazole (IMA)(TNM) and trinitromethane pyridine (Pyr)(TNM) had been obtained by the reaction of imiazole (IMA) or pyridine (Pyr) with trinitromethane (TNM), and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The crystallographic data showed that two compounds both belong to monoclinic, C2/c space group. With the extensive hydrogen bonds, molecular units were linked into a stable three-dimensional net structure. The thermal decomposition mechanism of the title complexes were investigated by DSC and TG-DTG techniques. DSC curves showed that the decomposition of (IMA)(TNM) contains only one exothermic process, and (Pyr)(TNM) contains two exothermic processes. TG-DTG curves revealed that the final decomposed residues of the two salts both were 3%-4%, which might be carbon. The non-isothermal kinetic parameters of the first exothermic process of the two salts were studied by applying Kissingers method and Ozawa-Doyles method, respectively. Sensitivity tests showed that both the two salts were insensitive to impact and friction stimulus, (Pyr)(TNM) was insensitive to flame stimulus, while (IMA)(TNM) was sensitive to flame stimulus.
