Effects of Typical Emulsifier on Rheological Properties and Stability of Emulsion Matrix

In this paper rheological properties of emulsion matrix prepared with several typical emulsifiers were carried out by automatic rheometer. Effects of typical emulsifier on rheological properties and stability of emulsion matrix were analyzed combined with the surface tension tests and high and low temperature cycle test. The results show that stability of emulsion matrix with SMO functionality was obviously poor. The surface tension of emulsifiers like No.4 and No.5 is greater than others, so the stability of the corresponding emulsion matrixes is better. But the effect of interfacial tension on stability is not obvious. Emulsion matrixes prepared with different emulsifiers can be characterized by its cohesive energy. The wider Linear Viscosity Region (LVR) is, the greater the elastic modulus is, and the better the stability of emulsion matrix will be.
