Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate Coated on SiC Nanoparticles
In this study, AP/SiC nanocomposites were prepared by a novel solvent-non solvent method. SEM and SEMEDX were used to characterize of their morphology and composition. The catalytic effect of silicon carbide nanoparticles was investigated on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) using differential thermal analyzer (DTA) and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA). A lowering of the high-temperature decomposition of AP by 46.23 ° C was observed after coating with 2.5 wt percent of SiC particles. The kinetic parameters were evaluated using Kissinger, Ozawa, Friedman and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa methods. The decrease in the activation energy confirmed the catalytic activity of these nanoparticles.
