Testing on Thermal Conductivity and Specific Heat of Typical Pyrotechnic Composition Used for Fireworks

Pyrotechnic compositions used in fireworks and crackers are one of the energetic materials, most of which has a characteristic of thermal sensitivity. And many explosion accidents are due to the thermal decomposition of those compositions. In this article, the processes of the thermal decomposition of the pyrotechnic compositions are studied by using DTA. And at the same time, Matlab programs of the numerical solution based on Kissinger law are established, by which the data received from DTA is calculated and processed. The results show that this is an effective approach to obtain the value of thermal conductivity and specific heat of typical pyrotechnic compositions. Also the value of reaction heat Q is obtained from the peak area formed in the DTA spectrum.
