Study the Effect of Molecular Weight of PCL and It’s Content on the Mechanical Behavior & Heat of Explosion of Typical Crosslink Double Base Propellant

In this report the mechanical properties of typical cross link double base propellant has been improved by increasing the ratio of PCL/NG (at range of 0.36 to 0.54.increasing in PCL from 8% to 12% comprises 11.7% in tear strength and 31.4% in modulus at 77 oF by replacing of PCL (Mw=2000) with PCL (Mw=6000) the Tear strength increases about 63% (at 77 oF & 10% PCL), Modulus increases about 130% (at 77 oF & 10% PCL) and Strain decreases about 23%. Following the effect of PCL/NG ratio on heat of explosion & pressure-time (standard motor) are investigated. The heat of explosion decreased 30% by increasing ratio of PCL/NG from 0.36 to 0.67.(Mw=2000).
