Study of Model of Ablation Effect of Plasma upon Gun Propellant

In order to study the action mechanisms of plasma ignition against gun propellant, the model of ablation effect of plasma upon propellant is put forward based on the double layer dynamic model which was founded to deal with the ablation problem by Professor Keidar. The ablation effect of SF-3 propellant,GR5 propellant and ETPE propellant were investigated, and the ablation quantity was simulated numerically with the characteristic parameters of the arc plasma and the propellant. The computed values and the experimental results are matched well under the ablation action of lower plasma energy; the model can describe the ablation process of gun propellant under the plasma. However, the deviation will become larger between computed and experimental results with increasing of plasma energy, and the influence of chemical reaction will be dominant. With regards to the sensitivity under the action of arc plasma among the three propellants, the double-base propellant is the strongest, and ETPE propellant is the weakest.
