Ignition and Growth Reactive Flow Modeling for RDX Based High Explosive

The ignition and growth model for shock initiation and detonation of solid explosives is applied to calculating the main features of detonation waves in RDX based high explosive in this paper. The parameters of unreacted equation of state as JWL form are fitted to shock Hugoniot data which measured by impedance match test. Cylinder tests with diameter 10mm and 25mm were used to identify the power of RDX based high explosive. According to the results of the numerical simulations of cylinder tests, parameters of JWL EOS for RDX based high explosive were calculated and corrected. Interface particle velocity history was measured by VISAR interferometer system. The reactive rate parameters of ignition and growth model are determined according to comparison with interface particle velocity history and calculation. Results show the ignition and growth model of RDX based high explosive could describe the reactive process, as consistency between experiments and calculations.
