Effect of Heat Loss Factors on Constant Volume Burner Method

The constant volume burner is a kind of test method to measure the burning rate of solid propellant at high pressure. The heat loss equation of constant volume burner method was derived. The research with qualitative and quantitative analysis of heat loss factors on constant volume burner method was carried out by experiments. The effects of some characteristics of propellant samples, such as Pressure-rise rate, burning time , ignition ways , burning rate and so on , on the heat loss behavior are investigated in this paper. Results indicate that higher Pressure-rise rate, shorter burning time, suitable ignition modes and higher burning rate can possess an excellent ability to reduce the heat loss.
