Improved Methodology for Safety Evaluation of TraditionalChinese Medicine

摘要：

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is different to western medicine, and has its own theory system with Chinese characteristics. TCM provides a potential for some complex chronic diseases, and has been perceived by the public as natural-derived and less toxic.. With the increasing use in worldwide, growing attention has been paid to the safety of TCM. To get the knowledge base for safety assessment of TCM, the integrated methods including dose-effect relationship, syndrome animal model and low-dose studies, and the application of the modem science and technology such as system biology approach as well as metabonomics, epidemiological investigation are reviewed to improve the safety evaluation of TCM.
