Developmental Toxicity of Bisphenol A on Zebrafish Embryos
To estimate the aquatic toxicity of Bisphenol A (BPA) , a static test using zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos was carried out according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guideline. The concentrations to cause 50% mortality (LCjo) in embryos at 24 hours post fertilization (hpf) and 48 hpf were calculated to be 15.01 mg/L and 18.04 mg/L, respectively. Nonfatal endpoints were also recorded. The results indicate that BPA has developmental toxicity on zebrafish embryos. The fish embryo toxicity test is a feasible method to assess the toxicity of BPA.
