Influence of Enterprise Resource Planning on the Enhancement of Leadership Performance
Leadership is a subject that has been the focus of discussion amongst the people for many long years and has received the most attention in the literature. Early civilizations marvelled at the prowess and leadership of kings and army generals such as Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan and Qin Shi Huang. More recent leaders such as Winston Churchill, John F Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi and Mandela have also been the subject of much mention for their respective roles in their respective countries and regions. Leaders are said to perform due to their charismatic traits and characters and their negotiation skills and decision making effectiveness, which in turn depend on their abilities to gather information timely and digest information strategically and efficiently. Nowadays, enterprise resource planning is able to provide the platform for business leaders, amongst others, to function in a similar way, and thus be the basis of further enhancement of leadership performance. This paper presents a literature review on leadership theories and suggests ways and methodologies to enhance leadership performance not only in business organizations but also leadership in many spheres.
