The Effect of Environmental Uncertainty and Risk on Entry Mode Choice: An Empirical Examination of Australian Organisations

Entry mode choice has increasingly become a central focus of strategy analysis for organisations seeking to go global, and enter international markets. Yet, this process is fraught with uncertainty and risk for organisation, heightening the difficulty of selecting an appropriate method of entry. This study seeks to investigate the relationship between environmental uncertainty, risk and entry mode choice for Australian organisations expanding into international markets. In doing so, it demonstrates that by understanding both environmental uncertainty and risk, we can better determine the mode of entry selected by organisations.
