Analysis and Enlightenment from Traceability of Fish Products Distribution in Iceland
A field study was conducted in a fish market and a processing factory in Iceland to evaluate how traceability is secured at fish product distribution. The main characteristics of ‘One-up-one-down’ traceability and the distribution system to assure traceability and the quality of fish products in Iceland are summarized. In addition, the “one-up-one-down traceability system of fish product distribution in China is explained and suggestions made on how it may be improved. The suggestions consist of general regulation and methods to implement traceability of fish distribution. Recommendations of general regulation contain batch, batch-code, recorded information and recalling. The methods comprise product labeling, recorded information in companies and evidence for tracing the product.
