The growth and structure properties of polycrystalline ZnO nanobelts

In this paper, polycrystalline ZnO nanobelts were synthesized by a hydrothermal method with the assistance of urea. By fabricating the sample under different growth parameters it could be confirmed the urea played an important role in the growth of ZnO nanobelts. In the early stage of growth Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 nanoflakes could be fabricated. Then with the increasing of the OH-concentration Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 decomposed and the ZnO nanobelts could be obtained by a self-assembly process. The nanobelts showed a high thermal stability under 400 ℃. With increasing the annealing temperature to 500 ℃ the as-grown nanobelts could be broken.
