Intensity Dynamics of VCSELS Subject to Filter Optical Feedback
The intensity dynamics is studied in VCSELs subject to filter optical feedback. A deep drop occurs in the total power of the diode on a particular position during every half-wavelength variance of the etalon. Fluctuations appear simultaneously in two orthogonal modes: a drop in the dominant polarization mode while a burst in the depressed mode. The numerical study which utilizes dimensionless rate equations shows a good agreement with the experiment result. This phenomenon can be applied on the nanoscale measurement of the velocity, vibration and displacement.
