Synthesis of Highly Luminescent CdTe/CdS Quantum Dots in Aqueous Solution for biological imaging applications
Recently, Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have been synthesized in organic phase and transferred to aqueous solution by functionalizing their surface with different shell. Such as polymers, short-chain thiol ligand, or phospholipid micelles. However, those procedures may decrease their quantum yield and may hinder their biomedical applications or affect their optical properties. In this paper, We prepare one-pot synthesis of 3-mercaptopropionic acid stabilized CdTe/CdS QDs in aqueous solution. This core/shell structure QDs exhibite a significant red shift of emission and excitation peaks with increase of QDs size. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Optical spectroscopy photoluminescence (PL) spectra and confocal revealed that core/shell structures enhanced QDs PL efficiency and stability.
