Design and Simulation of Microchannel for Cell Sorting System

In this paper, a novel design of cell sorting system has been presented. The proposed cell sorting system consists of micropump, flow sensor, cell focusing channel, cell sorting and detection module, electronic module, sample storage unit, live cells storage and drain storage. Using ANSYS, coupled field analysis of sinusoidal microchannel for cell focusing has been conducted. The length of channel is 160 μm and internal diameter of channel curve is 15 μm. Nineteen solid objects have been modelled in the channel to investigate the inertial effects during fluid-solid interaction. The diameter of each object is 3 μm. The proposed cell sorting system would provide useful predicted data to develop automatic cell sorting system for biomedical applications.
