AE monitoring of C/C composite in three-point bending test
Standard samples of Carbon/Carbon composite are manufactured in accordance with the ((Three-fiber reinforced composite test methods for flexural properties)) , characteristics of acoustic emission signal are researched under different load of threepoint bending test of Carbon/Carbon composites. In the initial damage stage of Carbon/Carbon composites bending test, the amplitude of acoustic emission signal is generally low, only a few high amplitude signals, and the acoustic emission events is relative less and tends to steady, the released average energy is small. In the stage of crack initiation and stable growth, the amplitude of acoustic emission signal increases gradually, and the acoustic emission events has paroxysmal increase. In the stage of instability fracture, lots of high amplitude signals arise, and the acoustic emission events has no obvious change compared with the second stage, but has obvious mutation in the later stage, the energy released by acoustic source has once obvious paroxysmal increase, and the energy is very high. The result shows that the damage of Carbon/Carbon composite can be characterized by amplitude and acoustic emission events.
