Numerical simulation of AE detection feature of faulty rolling bearing and its experimental validation

In order to apply acoustic emission technique in monitoring and diagnosis of defected rolling bearings, it is necessary to study the properties of AE generation, propagation and attenuation in the bearing structure. The feature of AE propagation was simulated by finite element method in which the multi-interface contact characteristic of the rolling bearing will be considered. Based on the FEM model of 6307 bearing integrated with bearing chock, the AE signal induced by localized defect was obtained. Furthermore, the simulated results were validated by comparing with the measured signal from the test rig. On the condition that the FEM model is reliable, the propagation and attenuation process of AE wave were discussed. As a result, it provides a theoretical basis to establish general standard of AE detection.
