The Conflicts of Geographical Indications between Mainland China and Taiwan
This paper presents an analysis of the conflicts of geographical indications (GIs) between mainland China and Taiwan. Mainland adopts the mixed model while Taiwan mainly adopts the trademark protection model supplemented by the anti-unfair competition protection. The GIs conflicts between mainland and Taiwan have existed because of business moving, historical factor, same geographical names and lack of communications. Finally, suggestions are given as follows: cultivate the awareness of geographical indications among the public, establish the cooperative system, make use of industrial associations and provide severe punishment.
