Investigation of Equivalent Axle-Number Coefficient for Asphalt Pavement with Rigid Base

The equivalent axle-number coefficient for asphalt pavement with rigid base was investigated in this paper. Based on the elastic-layer system theory and fatigue tensile-stress principles, the relationship between axle-number coefficient for asphalt pavement with rigid base and tensile stress under rigid base was obtained. The influences on the axle-number coefficient by different structural parameters such as thickness and modulus of different pavement layers were analyzed by finite element program. And then the calculation formula for axlenumber coefficient of asphalt pavement with rigid base was suggested and compared with the axle-number coefficient suggested by AASHTO. It is indicated that the calculation formula for axle-number coefficient suggested in this paper is reasonable.
