Study on Theory and Practice of Transboundary Water Resources Management-A Case Study of the Great Lakes Watershed

Integrated River Basin Management(the abbreviation is IRBM)is a mode of water resources integrated management. In many countries it has been researched for a long time and adopted effectively. It takes river basin as control units and has become general tendency of water resources management at present. Based on theory and practice of IRBM for the Great Lakes of USA and Canada, the paper makes a systematic research on water resources management and gives an empirical analysis from four aspects, namely, establishment of watershed management organization, ecosystem approach application, dealing with environment emergency, cooperation of Environmental Impact Assessment (the abbreviation is EIA) in transboundary watershed. The conclusion could provide references to transboundary water resources management for other countries.
