Design of Mono-leaf Composite Sping
The leaf spring is a component designed to prevent the road shocks from being transmitted to the vehicle, to safeguard the occupants from the road shocks and to preserve the stability of the vehicle during pitching and rolling while in motion. The leaf springs may actually be subjected to vertical loading due to vehicle weight, the side thrust due to cornering, cross winds, the torque reactions during accelerating etc. To predict spring characteristics, the analysis of the leaf spring is to be carried out. A complete study of the leaf spring will involve analysis like stress analysis, vibration analysis and also to replace it by composite mano -leaf spring. One part of this analysis The stress analysis has been carried out here on the leaf spring and as a way towards learning the finite element method as applied to the present day engineering problems. However the Finite element model created in the project can be reused for other types of analysis as well.
