Analysis of Plastic Slip of Materials
A new yield criterion is established theoretically. In this paper a new property of plastic slip of materials is introduced. A rectangular element of material is subjected to actions of three principal stresses. Under the actions of these principal stresses, plastic slip occurs in the element. Slip plane and slip direction of the element can be determined by this new property. It is proved that this method satisfies the principle of energy conservation. In the slip plane and slip direction the critical shear stress making the element slip is a fixed quantity irrespective of orientation of the slip plane and slip direction. Certain critical combinations of the principal stresses on the element are determined from equilibrium equations. Obtained results have been compared with ones got from Mises theory.
